The CGVlibrary includes nearly 100 of the most important and relevant information sources in agriculture, as identified by information managers, specialists, and researchers. However, gaps in this coverage remain:
- Many CGIAR centers maintain publications databases separate from their library catalogs. In many cases, important publications describing the results of CGIAR research only appear in publications catalogs.
- Many CGIAR projects have significant and valuable bibliographic databases – for example, Alternatives to Slash-and-Burn Programme (ASB) and the CGIAR Systemwide Program on Collective Action and Property Rights (CAPRi).
- Special collections exist within CGIAR centers that have topic-specific information – for example, the Rice Library at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI).
- Image library databases exist within CGIAR centers.
To fill these gaps, Mila Ramos (Chief Librarian, IRRI) supported by Carmelita Austria (Assistant Chief Librarian, IRRI) has compiled a list of additional data-bases and information that the different centers have developed. While we are in the process of integrating these into the virtual library we want to make the information available already.
